‘Will I Play or Will I Not Play
In 2024, Bangladesh experienced an ongoing constitutional crisis, leaving the nation in a state of political flux. During and after this ‘guardian less’ period, most political parties were intensely active. The vibrant energy of the youth was often directed against powerful political factions, who seemed to be replaying their old, ‘dirty’ methods to seize governmental power. To the general populace of Bangladesh, these actions often felt like a cynical and even comical performance.
As a force for positive change, I deeply desire a politically stable and peaceful country. My artwork, titled ‘Will I Play or Will I Not Play?’, serves as a symbolic representation of Bangladeshi politics and the cynical activities of its political figures. I have depicted our Parliament House, within which gymnastic acrobats are engaged in their routines. These acrobatic displays symbolize the performative and often farcical nature of power politics within the parliament, highlighting the detached and almost theatrical approach to governance.
